1. POSITION : FINANCE OFFICER-1 POST DUTY STATION : HEAD OFFICE, KAMPALA
REPORTS TO : FINANCE MANAGER
Job Summary:
The primary responsibility of this position is to provide support to the finance department of UHMG, by ensuring timely reporting for the DFID-funded project. The position is responsible for providing professional and technical accounting services for UHMG, while undertaking payments, budget monitoring and financial reporting for the project.
This position requires a person who has capacity in the areas of budgeting and accounting for NGOs. The person should have the capacity to work under minimum supervision, keep a clean accounting system and procedures, as well as undertake timely reporting,, and resiliently work to fulfill the organization's goals, while upholding our Core Values.
Essential Job Functions:
The Finance Officer will be specifically responsible for the following tasks:-
1. Maintain periodical financial reports for the project, and submit them to the Finance Manager for review.
2. Daily input and post all transactions in Tally.
3. Produce monthly Bank Reconciliations by the 1091 of every month for all project accounts.
4. Review and update all advances issued to staff for project work.
5. Coding on all new projects and budget track accruals and payments.
6. Keeping contacts with the field teams on financial matters.
7. Keep up-to-date cash books for the projects, and ensure every bank account has a respective file.
8. 8. Maintain a cash flow for all project funds and advise the supervisor accordingly
9. Carry out field verification visits for the different projects.
10. Participate in donor implementation meetings on financial matters.
11. Invoice respective project funders as and when the funds are due and follow them up.
12. Monitor budgets for the different projects and advise the supervisor accordingly.
13. Undertake proper filing of UHMG payment vouchers and other financial documents.
14. Prepare all adjustment journals.
15. Liaise with the Finance Manager when working with Auditors during external audits.
16. Undertake any other duties as may be assigned from time to time by the supervisor

Professional qualification such as ACCA, CPA. Degree in Business-related discipline (Accounting). At least 3 years experience working in the field of accounting with international, regional or local NGO. Computer literacy with experience in the use of MS Office documents, Tally in data management and reporting. Energetic, flexible, and dynamic team player. Should be a person of integrity, focused and innovative. Excellent oral and written communication skills, proposal writing, facilitation and presentation skills. Have excellent interpersonal skills, able to relate with staff effectively and work with a multi-cultural team within the organization. Have excellent record keeping, report compilation skills. A self-starter, able to multi-task and work with minimum supervision. Able to work under pressure with competing deadlines.
