B'Tselem: The Israeli Information Center for Human Rights in the Occupied Territories is the leading Israeli organization monitoring, documenting and advocating to improve human rights in the West Bank and Gaza Strip. Founded in 1989, B'Tselem publishes reports, engages in advocacy and serves as a resource center.
B'Tselem USA , established in 2008, is a small non-profit whose mission is to advocate B'Tselem's work in the US.
An internship at B'Tselem USA gives a rare opportunity to develop familiarity with human rights issues related to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and the Israeli civil society and human rights community, as well as advocacy vis a' vis US policy makers, legislators, community leaders, international and American human rights organizations and the American media. B'Tselem USA has a small staff and an ambitious mission. We are in the midst of developing and growing our presence in the US. An intern will be an integral part of this work.
Responsibilities:
- Research and report on issues concerning the work of B'Tselem in the US (possible issues may include: Israeli-Palestinian conflict, international human rights and humanitarian law, US advocacy, the US Jewish community and more);
- Update and improve B'Tselem US' different database;
- Assist with grant writing;
- Assist with developing and executing B'Tselem's communications strategy, including newsletters, social media, website and more;
- Assist with the US Office administrative duties.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications and Skills:
- Graduate student preferred (relevant majors: Public Policy, Political Science, Middle East Studies, Law, International Relations and Diplomacy, Communications);
- Excellent writing skills;
- Innovative, creative and flexible;
- Outstanding interpersonal and social skills;
- Team Player – ability to work in a small team;
- Strong research, planning, organizational, and analytical skills;
- Familiarity with the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, human rights, American government and the American Jewish community;
- Database experience desirable;
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs and Internet-based tools, including databases and spreadsheets;
- Hebrew verbal and written skills – an advantage.

Application Instructions
Length of Internship
A minimum time commitment of 14 hours in two days per week for two - three months is required. Internship can be extended to a full year. Interns can work up to 40 hours per week. Interns are expected to start in September, specific start and end dates are flexible.
