The contract for the Mathematics and Science Teaching and Learning Support Program will be awarded for three years to qualify and support all mathematics and science teachers, working at public schools in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, through training mathematics and science supervisors and trainers.
Key to the success of the program is to build internal capacity in all 45 districts through the development of support systems that will raise the proficiency of mathematics and science district supervisors in order to enable them to perform their duties effectively and efficiently. The three main objectives for the program include program and professional development as well as capacity building and cultural change.
Responsibilities
• developing competencies of mathematics and science supervisors and teachers from Grade 1 to Grade 12, conducting a thorough training needs assessment, and producing a program plan with sustainable actions required to improve the quality of mathematics and science teaching
• direct training for supervisors and trainers, the development of training packages, and the development of online training content
• advice to develop and produce required materials for teachers, parents and other professionals in electronic, printed and video formats and providing additional resources like PowerPoint presentations, competitions and formative assessment materials
• developing a plan for change management and implementation
• developing a plan for transition and future proposals to refine the mathematics and science support program
Qualifications
• University Degree (Masters Level or above) in mathematics or science (physics, chemistry or similar)
• Minimum 5 years experience with teacher training, preferably on international level
• Good knowledge of international standards of educational reforms. Professional experience in the planning and/or implementation of educational reforms is an important asset.
• Excellent command of English
• Excellent command of the Arabic language. Experience in the Arab world would be an asset.
• Proficiency in IT tools (including e-learning)
Duration
Start date of training is foreseen for March 2012, end of contract for December 2014.
