Job Title: Country Accountant
Branch/Subsidiary: KickStart Tanzania
Responsible to: Country Director, Tanzania
Key Responsibilities:
1. RECORD KEEPING
a) To ensure that accurate and up to date financial books are kept up to date including overall data and integrity of the ERP system.
b) Ensure all copies are maintained and logged in accurately in the monthly log for AR/AP cash book and bank reconciliations.
2. REPORTING
a) To produce accurate and timely financial reports, statements, cash flows and budgets to both senior management and donors as per the requirements, which will change from time to time. This also entails advising management on any required changes in view of the reports so produced.
b) With the guidance of the Deputy Country Accountant and in liaison with the Country Director, and the TZ departmental Managers, produce and submit the budget for KickStart Tz.
c) Ensuring that all statutory financial reports/ returns are filed on time as required by the statutes applicable in the country at any given time.
d) At the end of each month, quarter and year prepare a financial report for that period and appraise the Country Director regarding the financial position of the Country Program.
3. MANAGEMENT
a) Ensure that all Tanzania Finance staff are working, well supervised, trained, coordinated and are giving desired results.
b) Manage a team of two by ensuring that there are performing up to KS standards
c) Overall Appraisal and technical supervision of staff in Finance department.
d) Provide overall leadership for financial decisions and advice the Country Director on Key Financial issues and trends.
4. AUDIT
a) Liaise with the Finance team to ensure that the books of accounts are audited by external auditors yearly and at any other intervals as necessary. Ensuring all recommendations from such audits are implemented.
b) Participate in all audit Exercises
c) Ensure timely and accurate reports for all audit purposes
5. RECONCILIATIONS
a) Ensuring that all the bank accounts held are reconciled on month-to-month basis. All matters arising should be addressed immediately
b) Bank reconciliations must be done by the 15th of each month.
6. ACCOUNT RECEIVABLES
a) In coordination with the Sales Manager and Admin Manager, develop a credit policy for debtors that ensures that all outstanding debts are collected on time and that any disbursement of KickStart equipments is done following the laid down procedure
7. STAFF ACCOUNTS
a) When employees account for business advances ensure that they are reviewed and KickStart Policies are adhered to, and that all original receipts attached and authenticate their genuineness.
b) Ensure that all expenditures are approved by the line manager concerned and that they are in line with the approved budget.
8. STOCK COUNT AND INVENTORY
a) Liaise with warehouse officer to ensure the physical inventory ties with inventory on the ERP system
b) Liaise with warehouse officer to ensure monthly stock reports are reconciled with the system
c) Ensure that the physical stock reflect the correct inventory figures.
9. OTHERS
a) Liaise with departmental Managers and attend such meeting as may require the input of the Country Accountant.
b) Perform any other duties assigned from time to time

Principle Accountabilities
1. Review and issue Financial guidelines
2. Assist the Country Director in ensuring that Project monitoring and reporting activities are streamlined in accordance with set guidelines, results are accurately measured, constraints identified hence decisions are made & results measured based on accurate information and data.
3. As the Certifying Officer, the position will always attest that the charges or claim being made on any payment can properly be recorded against the relevant organization’s budget allocation and that funds are available in that allocation to justify that charge or claim; and that all basic supporting documents are available to effect such payment(s) and that the goods or services for which payment is claimed have been received or rendered in accordance with the terms of the contract or obligation; that payment has not previously been made; and that no other information is available which would bar the payment(s).
4. Be responsible for the administration of all Country office financial manuals and advise on any matter not fully covered in these manuals or needing update so that they are referred to the Board for appropriate action(s)
Skills and Competencies
1. Bachelor of Commerce, Accounting Option with 3 years post qualification experience
2. Planning, organizational and analytical skills and a team player
3. Knowledge of ERP accounting software
6. Must have in depth understanding of the systems used in accounting
7. Expertise in stock control
8. Sharp IT skills / use of IT for presentation
9. Hands on and self driven
