Section Geologists -Buzwagi Gold Mine

Our Buzwagi Mine based in Tanzania require 3 Section Geologists to join the Geology team. This position will report to the Geology Superintendent and is worked on a 6/3 weeks FIFO roster.

KEY RESULT AREAS/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

The 3 Areas that require Section Geologists are:

• Grade Control
• Resource / Development
• Mine and Database

• The Sectional Grade Control Geologist is responsible for:
• Ensuring maximum profitability is achieved by minimizing ore body dilution by ensuring that the best Grade Control, mapping and mining techniques and procedures are practiced.
• Providing technical leadership & training of Production and Graduate Mine Geology staff to fulfil the Succession Plan.

• The Sectional Resource / Development Geologist is responsible for:
• Developing, maintaining & reconciling Block Models
• Assess & supervise development of resource deposits
• Accurately maintain ore reserve & resource estimates
• Providing technical leadership & training of Production and Graduate Mine Geology staff to fulfil the Succession Plan.

• The Sectional Mine and Database Geologist is responsible for:
• working with database management systems software in order to determine the best possible way to organize and to store geological data, observe the system in order to ensure proper performance and investigate develop new database reporting tools as required.
• Mentoring / coaching of database users in using database software as well as provide backup and support to database geologists and liaise with IT staff as required.
  
  

PROFESSIONAL AND INTERPERSONAL SKILLS/ATTRIBUTES

Education Requirements:

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Geology.

Experience Requirements:

• A minimum 5 - 8 years Mining and Exploration experience, preference for Open Cut Mining preferably in multi-element deposits.
• Surpac Mining Software or similar, MS Office Software package and Acquire Database Software package.
• Experience in Geological Block Modelling, Ore Reserve Evaluations, Ore body Reconciliations, Geostatistical Analysis and Report Writing.
• Basic Skills in Geological Budget Preparation and Preparation and Management of exploration programs.
• Very good knowledge of Mine Safety Regulations and Industry Best practices.
