TITLE: Accounts Assistant
PROGRAM/OFFICE: Kenya
REPORTS TO: Finance Manager

JOB SUMMARY:
Perform accounting duties assisting the project accounting team to maintain an efficient and accurate accounting function preparation of financial reports.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Ensure a timely and accurate filling system for all financial documents.
• Prepare & process payment vouchers and checks.
• Review payment vouchers to ensuring completeness & accuracy.
• Perform bank reconciliations.
• Track travel advances and expense reports submissions.
• Assist with the tracking of advance balances.
• Assist with the preparation of audit documents.
• Assist in the preparation of financial reports.
• Assist in ensuring donor financial regulations are followed.
• Assist in ensuring the integrity of the financial and accounting and finance systems at all times
• Assist in the data input for the accounting and finance system.
• Any other assigned responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & CERTIFICATIONS:
• A University Degree in Accounting
• CPA II & Accounting Experience.
• Computer Training particularly, Microsoft word, Excel required
• Proficient in QuickBooks accounting software.
• 2 years’ experience in accounts.
• Experience in NGO accounting & exposure to USAID and other major donors, (Their financial regulations /reporting requirements).
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
• Knowledge of ledger entries, banking procedures, financial filing systems
• Ability to handle, cashbook and accounts up to balance sheet level
• Excellent mathematical and accounting ability.
• Good verbal and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work diplomatically across different cultures.
• Discretion and discipline.
• Adapt to collaborative/team work environment.
• Honest and dependable.
