2. Major duties and responsibilities:
Under the direct supervision of theDirector of Conference Management and Publication, the responsibilities and duties ofthe incumbent shall include the following:
a. Formulate and implement in close consultation with the Director appropriate policies andplans for the activities of the Division;
b. Organiseand coordinate the work of Revisers and Translators both regular and freelance;
c. Developa database of reputable translators in AU Member States;
d. Assessrevisers, translators and secretaries both regular and freelance and submit tothe Director regular reports on the performance and efficiency of revisers, translators and secretaries;
e. Assistthe Director by advising on the acquisition of required translation tools software and reference books for the use of Revisers and translators, with the ultimate objective of having a proper reference unit and data base;
f. Oversee the overall management of the Division: personnel, budget, performance, quality, discipline etc. in accordance with the prevailing rules andprocedures.
g. Performany other duties that may be assigned to him/her, by the Director.
- Qualifications and Experience Required
Candidates must have at leastUniversity Masters Degree (in Languages, Economics, Law and Humanities) and aHigher Diploma in Translation from a recognised school of Translation.
4. Professionalexperience required:
Candidates must have at least 10years experience as a translator and 3 years of relevant working experience in managing and coordinating translator, particularly at the international level.

- Ability to manage a multilingual team;
- Excellent interpersonal skills;
- Excellentcommunication skills;
- Ability to work under pressure and in a multiculturalenvironment;
- Computerliteracy.
- Excellentdrafting skills;
- Excellent knowledge of French and English language. Agood knowledge of a third AU working language would be an added advantage;
- Language requirement
Proficiency in one of the African Union workinglanguages. Proficiency of one or several other working language(s) would be anadded advantage.
7. Age requirement:
Candidates must preferably be between 35 and 50 years old.
8. Tenure of Appointment:
The appointment will be made on a fixed term contract for aperiod of three (3) years, of with the first twelve months will be considered as a probationary period. Thereafter,the contract will be for a period of two (2) years renewable, subject to satisfactory performance and deliverables.

10.Remuneration:
Indicative basic salary of US $45,551.00 per annum plus other related entitlements e.g. Post adjustment (46% of basic salary), Housing allowance ($16,819.20 perannum), education allowance (75% of tuition and other education related expenses forevery eligible dependent up to a maximum of US$7,800.00 per child per annum), etc for internationally recruited staff of the Commission.
