CHAMPION Project (Channeling Men’s Positive Involvement in a National HIV/AIDS Response) Project, which seeks to increase positive male involvement in HIV and reproductive health, is funded by USAID and managed by EngenderHealth. The project is implemented in ten regions throughout Tanzania, with the main office located in Dar es Salaam. CHAMPION is now seeking the expression of interests for the position of the Program Intern-M&E, based in Dar es Salaam. This position will be for contract duration of 6 months with the potential to renew. This position is open for Tanzanian national candidates only.
Specific responsibilities:
- Assist with ongoing monitoring and evaluation activities that demonstrate progress towards project results including data collection, database development, data entry, and data analysis
- Provide support in conducting project assessment/research activities
- Support the documentation and dissemination of best practices, lessons learned, and success stories from CHAMPION’s implementation experience
- Support the capacity building and monitoring of local partners (NGOs), and community and workplace volunteers who implement a variety of HIV prevention activities
- Conduct literature reviews related to CHAMPION’s work and/or other online searches
- Carry out other duties as needed
Qualifications and skills
- A demonstrated commitment to positive social change as well as a personal and professional commitment to gender equity
- Progress toward a Masters or other advanced degree in a health-related field such as public health, demography, development studies or statistics preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs and online search engines
- Strong written and oral communication skills in English and Kiswahili
- Detail-oriented with strong follow-through and organizational skills
- Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills
- Experience with data analysis (SPSS, Access or Epi Info preferred), presentation and management
- Experience administering surveys, conducting in-depth interviews, or conducting focus group discussion preferred
- Professional and/or academic experience with gender issues, reproductive health, and/or HIV/AIDS preferred
- At least one year of experience (volunteer or paid) with community based interventions preferred
A stipend will be provided to the successful candidate. The desired start date for the Intern-M&E is Tuesday, 1 May 2012.
