· The role is responsible for leading the development of Communication Channel Planning and Media implementation as well as demand procurement alignment in the media negation process. Additional leadership requirements will be the championing of the Brandhouse Digital and Marketing code. This role has significant business leadership responsibility in the shaping and influencing of the total strategy on all media. The incumbent will support the portfolio manager on consumer engagement in the development of overall consumer engagement thinking and the role that media plays in this mix. This implies a critical requirement to lead MLT and the marketing community thinking in these specific areas as well as developing internal capability against these dimensions.
· The role demands the leadership of a clear functional marketing agenda through the orchestration of channel strategies across the entire portfolio/category/brand consumer engagement plans. The role requires the building of functional capability within the direct and team and broader marketing community working in unison with other functional and marketing leaders to achieve business outcomes.
· The Communication Channel Planning manager also has leadership/management accountability for one team member: Media Analyst. In addition, the leadership accountability in providing functional media expertise across the marketing function is a key requirement. Leadership of the media and associated agency relationships are also critical.

Qualifications and Experience Required
Qualifications
Tertiary qualification, ideally in Media, PR or Marketing
Experience
· At least 7 years of Media Management experience either within an agency or within a marketing department
· Extensive knowledge of the South African media landscape and environment.
· Thorough understanding of media planning and buying; media agency systems and processes
· Experience with Media Research and working with Media planning and buying agencies.
· Solid understanding of marketing mix principles and varying roles
· Strong capability to evaluate business investment decisions
· Ability to develop and implement successful business strategies
· Good negotiation skills
· Ability to audit/assess agencies against predetermined success criteria
· Critical understanding of brand positioning and brand strategies and demonstrated capability to translate this into functional business strategies
