As a result of the company’s continued growth, an excellent opportunity has become available for suitably qualified candidates to join the Boart Longyear Drilling Service TEAM in Mali.
Duties and Responsibilities
Analyzes business problems to be solved with automated systems. Configures system settings and options; plans and executes unit, integration and acceptance testing; and creates specifications for systems to meet business requirements. Plans computerized databases, including base definition, structure, documentation, long-range requirements, operational guidelines and protection. Ensures accuracy and completeness of data in master files and various support tools, such as base dictionaries. Establishes and maintains security and integrity control. Responsible for participating in the analysis, design, evaluation, modification, testing, and implementation of enterprise wide systems. Conducts analysis of systems specifications and uses the latest analysis/diagramming tools to represent business/technical processes. Prepares and obtains approval of system and programming documentation. Analyzes, acquires, installs, modifies and supports operating systems, databases, utilities and Internet/intranet-related tools. Modifies, maintains and updates software, such as compilers, link editors, assemblers, OEM utilities, JCL, macros and subroutines.
Reporting Relationships
The position reports directly to the West Africa IT Administrator and has working relationships with associated BLY office and field staff.

Selection Criteria
The right person will possess or be working towards the following position requirements
Education and professional background
· A.S./B.S. degree computer science or related degree or equivalent experience
· 1 or more years’ experience as a hardware/software technician in a business environment
· Relevant professional IT-related qualifications would be an advantage
Computer skills
· Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and operating systems
· Working knowledge of PC in a networking environment
· Ability to learn new products quickly
· Hardware and software configurations
· Good troubleshooting skills (hardware/software)
· System software knowledge/experience (Windows 7, Windows XP)
· Outstanding people skills and customer service skills orientation
· Able to handle rapidly changing priorities, high visibility-high stress situations
· Excellent interpersonal and telephone skills
Personal abilities:
1. Detail oriented; Analytical; willing to work long (sometimes odd) hours; ability to be flexible
2. Team Player; VERY organized (precise with regard to documentation & follow up)
3. Fluent spoken and written English
