Afromedianet is a network of leading journalists and independent experts specialising in human rights, development issues and humanitarian affairs in Africa. We aim to foster an exchange of information and the sharing of knowledge among our professional members to ensure that African issues are well-researched and accurately reported.
Afromedianet is launching in January 2012, a limited number of position in our distance Academic internship programme which enables students, through the aid of information technology, to complete a six month Academic internship in Journalism and Research.
This is open to students currently undertaking postgraduate studies in either Journalism, Communications or African Studies. Successful interns will work from their home country to support the operations of the International Secretariat in Seyssel.
A typical applicant is required to possess qualifications and drive for development affairs and to view this distance academic internship as an opportunity to gain experience and understanding of human rights and development issues and humanitarian affairs in Africa.
Education • A completed degree in Mass Communications studies, African Studies, or a related area, or currently enrolled in a Masters programme or equivalent; • High fluency in English, with strong writing and research skills; • A keen interest in international affairs; • An ability to work independently;
DURATION: 6 months Commencing in: January, April, July and September
Distance internship in Journalism and Research are UNPAID. Candidates should have computer and internet facilities. At the conclusion of the Academic distance internship, intern are evaluated on the main tasks accomplished as well as on his/her leadership, performance and specific skills. At the end of the Academic internship, Afromedianet will provide the intern with a certificate of attendance.
