exists to prevent sex trafficking and restore and bring justice to women and children who have
been victimized through sex trafficking. SHI is part of a worldwide effort to prevent and eradicate
sex trafficking and slavery. The organization operates programs in the United States, India, Nepal,
Jamaica and Africa. Shared Hope leads awareness and training, prevention strategies, restorative
care, research, and policy initiatives to mobilize a national network of protection for victims.
For the first time SHI will open its new offices in Tanzania to implement its poverty eradication and
gender based violence projects among women and youth in the marginal communities of Tanzania.
Subsequently, SHI is currently seeking experienced and capable individuals to fill the position of
Accountant, based in Tabora and Simiyu, with the requirements as stated below:
JOB DESCRIPTIONS:
1. Position: Projects Accountant (1)
Reports to: Country Program Manager
Duty Station: Tabora and Simiyu regions - Tanzania
Duration: Two years, with a possibility of extension based on performance.
The applicant should be a Tanzania graduate with experience in working with NGOs and civil
organizations in socio-economic projects and ability to handle multiple funding/donors. The
applicant should be self motivated, hard working, should be available at any time.
The Accountant will be in charge of designing and overseeing all financial processes, implementing
appropriate controls and best practices, ensuring financial and donor reporting compliance, and
helping develop financial strategy. The role requires a high level of responsibility and is critical to
the organization’s future growth. For the right candidate, this could provide an unrivaled leadership
opportunity to shape the organizational design of a fast project implementation.
The Accountant’s key responsibilities include:
Design, implement and improve financial processes and controls throughout organization
Create and monitor central all project budgets
Conduct monthly financial reviews with the program team and report to the country
program manager
Plan and monitor organizational cash flow needs
Review and sign off on weekly bank reconciliation and expense reporting
Design and prepare quarterly and annual funding reports to grant donors, and any other ad
hoc financial requests investors may make
Assist in the development of potential impact investors and the longer term country-wide
business model
Assist in hiring and training of local Assistant Accountants for business continuity and/or if
expansion requires

Qualifications:
Degree in finance, accounting or related field
Minimum 1-2 years of experience working in a program setting managing projects and/or
designing social projects
Experience developing project proposals in similar funding and operational contexts to those of
SHI’s
Familiarity with gender mainstreaming and able to integrate meaningfully in program design
Demonstrated ability to provide leadership in planning initiatives
Capacity to work closely with and understand local partners
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Strong computer skills: Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint
Holding a professional accounting designation (e.g. CPA, ACCA, CPFA, and CIMA) is an added
advantage
Required Foreign Language: Fluency in oral and written English
