Job Purpose:
- To promote and sustain a culture of financial (Lending and Market) risks management discipline
- To ensure that there are effective standards of good financial risks management practice, internal controls, policies, procedures and processes and systems and management frameworks for lending and market risks
- To anticipate and proactively ensure management of financial risks and to initiate actions to manage financial risks.
Key Responsibilities:
- Embed a culture of consciousness and accountability for financial risk management and ensure that the types and levels of financial risks (lending, liquidity, interest rate, foreign exchange and country risks) are understood by concerned staff members;
- Champion financial risks management discipline, support credit and treasury business initiatives as a business partner while maintaining the appropriate risk management standards;
- Maintain liquidity, interest rate, foreign exchange and Lending risk policies and procedures and ensure staff members are trained on the same; ensure their availability and alignment with the bank’s activities, regulatory and by and large industry standards;
- Identify and understand financial risks inherent to credit and treasury business, monitor the actual levels on a regular basis, play a preventive role in financial risk management and perform regular stress tests to ensure the bank is resilient to any shock should it occur;
- Ensure that financial risks and process issues identified in credit and treasury business and functions are reported and monitored and where necessary escalated to the line manager and other relevant persons and or committees and ensure corrective actions are taken;
- Analyse internal and external audits, inspection findings, related to credit and treasury business and operations and fast track timely resolution of the related issues;
- Implement financial risks related systems and projects including Basel ii and iii accords
- Provide financial risks management expert advice, share best practice, risk mitigation techniques with credit and treasury teams to enable them proactively manage financial risks within their units
- Be ready to represent the Head of Risk as and when called to do so
- Support development and implementation of bank wide strategic initiatives
Qualifications and Experience Requirements:
- In order to be considered for the above position all applicants should have:-
- Bachelor Degree qualifications in fields of Business Administration (Finance and Accounting) or related discipline from a recognized University/Institution.
- Professional Qualifications i.e. FRM, CRA and Master’s Degree in business Administration will be added advantage
- A minimum of 5 years' experience in Risk Management, General Banking Operations, Credit and Treasury
