Background
Shared Hope International (SHI) is an International nonprofit, non-governmental
organization that exists to prevent sex trafficking and restore and bring justice to women
and children who have been victimized through sex trafficking. SHI is part of a worldwide
effort to prevent and eradicate sex trafficking and slavery. The organization operates
programs in the United States, India, Nepal, Jamaica and Africa. Shared Hope leads
awareness and training, prevention strategies, restorative care, research, and policy
initiatives to mobilize a national network of protection for victims.
For the first time SHI will open its new offices in Tanzania to implement its poverty
eradication and gender based violence projects among women and youth in the marginal
communities of Tanzania. Subsequently, SHI is currently seeking experienced and capable
individuals to fill the two (2) Drivers’ position, based in in Tabora and Simiyu, with the
requirements as stated below:
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Position: Drivers (2) – (With experience in NGOs and Government Institutions)
Reports to: Country Program Manager
Duty Station: Tabora and Simiyu regions - Tanzania
Duration: Two years, with a possibility of extension based on performance
Role overview: To drive passengers, visitors, run errands and undertake other logistical
requests for the project Office:
Logistics: Consistently ensure that SHI’s vehicle and driving policies and good practices are
followed at all times. Manage vehicles as requested, including cleaning; checking toolbox
contents are complete; daily checks; weekly servicing; tax, entering journeys in the SHI log
books at all times, organizing repairs and approving work done with SHI agreed mechanics.
Promptly report vehicle running problems or damage to the vehicle to the relevant
employee in SHI’s Administration Team. Run messages, collect pro-forma invoices, from
suppliers, help load/unload and transport equipment and undertake other logistic duties
as requested.
Volunteer Support: Drive volunteers, employees and official passengers carefully and safely
at all times around the region. Ensure all necessary official documents are available in the
vehicle being driven.
Fulfill other tasks from time to time that are in line within the responsibility of the posts.
Skills, qualifications and experience required:
The candidates should have: Essential Full, valid, clean driving licenses and
significant level of driving experience with class “C”.
Familiar with and able to undertake basic 4WD vehicle checks and servicing.
Excellent knowledge of the Country’s geography especially the target regions
(Tabora and Simiyu).
Good understanding of English.
Holding of School Certificate (Ordinary Certificate).
Ability to work well in a team.
Able to plan the order of daily work efficiently using own initiatives.
Able to travel and spend time away from home for extended periods of time.
Commitment to delivering excellent customer service.
Flexibility to adapt to new situations, with a positive attitude to working in an
international organization with progressive work standards.
Commitment to SHI’s values and sensitivity to equal opportunities particularly
regarding HIV&AIDS, disability and gender.
Desirable Experience working with international Non-Government Organizations and
Experiences in working with Government Officials.
Required Foreign Language: Fluency in oral and written English
