The Web Development and Digital Design Officer will manage AWF’s website and create digital content as a key member of AWF’s marketing and membership department. This position will provide in-house digital design, production, and graphic support to grow AWF’s digital presence, marketing campaigns, and awareness efforts.
The individual must have an eye for clean and artful design, demonstrate strong technical skills—including experience with Drupal-based sites—and be able to translate high-level requirements into functional designs. The ideal candidate will have a mastery of the fundamentals and a strong desire to expand their skills and expertise.
Responsibilities
Website Management
- Serves as primary site administrator for AWF.org and related websites / landing pages.
- Works within Drupal CMS to create and update site content working closely with Senior Publications and Content Manager and other team members.
- Adapts print publications into natively digital content and ensure site assets and documents are current content working closely with Senior Publications and Content Manager.
- Coordinates internal requests regarding site issues, required updates, and site development tasks.
- Conceptualizes and communicates solutions to improve user experience across AWF’s owned digital properties.
- Oversees complex web development projects in conjunction with AWF’s technical development partner.
- Implements technical/on-page SEO best practices and ensures compliance with evolving desktop and mobile standards.
- Provides site metrics and analysis as needed.
Digital Design and Production
- Creates materials for use in digital marketing and membership activities, including website components, landing pages, donation forms, and email campaigns across devices and platforms.
- Designs and codes innovative, visually distinct email templates, and applies responsive/mobile-friendly best practices.
- Creates wireframes, storyboards, user flows, process flows, and site maps to effectively communicate interaction and design ideas.
Graphics and Multimedia Support
- Develops visual/graphic content for use across web, email, and social media platforms including social media graphics, banner images, online advertisements, infographics, etc.
- Assists in implementation and maintenance of AWF’s visual identity across digital platforms.
- Provides other graphic design support, including presentations, as needed.
Site Administration and Quality Assurance
- Manages technical partner support agreement, including time tracking, invoicing, and reporting.
- Provides ongoing QA/QC for websites, landing pages, and email testing.
- Works with technical partner on issue resolution and break-fix.
- Coordinates hosting and systems administration with technical partner including regular CMS updates, etc.
- Additional technical support tasks as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree with 2+ years of experience
- Knowledge of HTML/CSS, including latest standards
- Demonstrated knowledge of responsive/mobile-first design best practices
- Understanding of cross-browser testing and optimization
- Proficiency in full suite of Adobe Creative Suite products and wire-framing tools
- Solid experience in creating wireframes, storyboards, user flows, and site maps
- Experience with CMS platforms (Wordpress, Drupal, etc.) preferred
- Experience with eCRM and database products desirable (Salesforce, Silverpop, Luminate, Salsa, etc.)
- Familiarity with PHP, MySQL, and Bootstrap framework desirable but not required
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced collaborative environment
- Experience in Africa and interest in conservation desirable but not required
