The Centre for Policy Research and Advocacy (CPRA) of the University of Dar es Salaam Business School (UDBS) was established in December 2014 as a centre of excellence In Promotion of evidence based Policy dialogue and advocacy process in strengthening improvement of business climate both at local and national level.
The centre works closely with Private Sector Organizations (PSOs), Public sector, the donor community, researchers and other Higher Learning Institutions in Tanzania. CPRA invites applications for the position of Centre administrator.
Centre Administrator
This position is responsible for providing administrative support to the management of the centre and management of office correspondences and other logistical issues.
Main accountabilities
Perform a wide variety of varied, complex, sensitive, highly responsible, and
confidential office administrative, secretarial, advanced clerical, and programmatic support functions in support of the Centre with only occasional instruction or assistance; relieve coordinator of the Centre of administrative work.
Serves as liaison between Coordinator of the Centre and the general public,
Receive and screen office and telephone callers; calendar appointments; respond to complaints and requests
Participate in the collection, compilation, and analysis of information from various sources on a variety of specialized topics related to assigned programs; participate in the preparation of reports that present and interpret data, identify alternatives, and make and justify recommendations.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date offices files, records, and logs for the Centre;
Attend to a variety of office administrative details such as ordering supplies, arranging for equipment repair, transmitting information, and keeping reference materials up to date; organize and maintain office and specialized files in accordance with the Centre's records management program.
Maintain calendar of activities, meetings, and various events for the Coordinator of the Centre; coordinate and arrange special events as assigned; schedule meetings; coordinate arrangements and set up meeting rooms; notify participants; prepare and/or assemble meeting materials.
Prepare special reports and perform special projects that may require researching, gathering, and organizing information from a variety of sources.
Assist the Coordinator in other responsibilities in the line of accountabilities of this position
Required Knowledge and Experience
Related Work Experience: Prior experience in advocacy and dialogue related activities is crucial for this position
Formal Education: Bachelor Degree in Business Administration, Journalism, Public
Relations or social sciences with strong academic performance or its equivalent
Skills:
Must have strong networking, organizational and interpersonal skills. Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills (in both English and Kiswahili and should have strong computer skills.
