We employ 1,200 staff, approximately 370 at our national centre in Euston, central London and the remainder in our 12 regions across the UK, including Northern Ireland.
UNISON is the lead union in the NHS with almost 500,000 members across a broad range of occupations. We have the lead role in negotiating, coordinating and organising national pay and conditions of service. The union and its members are facing unprecedented times. As a strategic centre we will provide the necessary support and tools for our branches and regions to defend jobs, services and pay and conditions at a local level and campaign with service users.
The Assistant National Officer post is crucial to the work of the Health Service Group Team and will work on discrete areas of NHS workforce policy; provide advice and guidance on a range of topics for our members and activists; organise training courses, meetings, lobbies and other events; and support the democratic structures of the union.
The post holder will work with National Officers and will carry out background research, data collection and analysis and develop campaign materials. They will assist in developing policy, advice and guidance to branches on a range of issues linking these activities to the recruitment and organisation for members and their representatives.
