Organizational Setting |
The Department of Safeguards (SG) is the organizational hub for the implementation of IAEA safeguards. The IAEA implements nuclear verification activities for some 180 States in accordance with their safeguards agreements. The safeguards activities are undertaken within a dynamic and technically challenging environment including advanced nuclear fuel cycle facilities and complemented by the political diversity of the countries. The Department of Safeguards consists of six Divisions: three Operations Divisions: A, B and C, for the implementation of verification activities around the world; three Technical Divisions: Division of Concepts and Planning, Division of Information Management, and Division of Technical and Scientific Services; as well as two Offices: the Office of Safeguards Analytical Services and the Office of Information and Communication Services. Within the Department of Safeguards, the Office of Information and Communication Systems (SGIS) is the centre of competence for the specification, development and maintenance of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) systems and for the management of all ICT infrastructure and services to support safeguards. In partnership with other organizational entities, SGIS is responsible for planning and implementing an ICT strategy as well as enforcing ICT standards. The Project Section provides ICT services to Safeguards Divisions and Member States. The Section serves multiple roles. It provides business analysis and information architecture services including integration of solutions developed in the IAEA and third-party solutions into the IT environment. It undertakes quality assurance and testing for all delivered products and provides project management services to the Division including contract management. |
Main Purpose |
Reporting to the Team Leader of the Business Analysis Team, the Information Analysis Engineer has the responsibility to plan, design, develop and deploy solutions aimed at integrating information and structured data feeds and applications both developed internally and from third-parties, into information systems needed by the Department of Safeguards. The Information Analysis Engineer determines how existing applications, legacy systems, databases, Web interfaces and/or hardware logic, which may be currently operating on multiple platforms, work together to meet the new and emerging Department of Safeguards enterprise requirements. The Information Analysis Engineer develops methods to efficiently reuse existing components. |
Role |
The Information Analysis Engineer's role is to participate in the planning and coordination of the integration of applications and technologies within the organization's IT environment and he/she performs solution development and implementation activities related to it. The specialist works (1) to improve business processes via integration, or to minimize the impact of integration on those processes, (2) on the creation of an integrated information repository to support Information Analysts in Safeguards and (3) to the integration of information artefacts and software components into products providing enhanced analytical capabilities. |
Partnerships |
The Information Analysis Engineer works with Business Analysts and Architects to understand business requirements and develop detailed design specifications. He/she works with the Safeguards and non-Safeguards users and software development, change management and infrastructure teams to test, promote and deploy developed solutions. The Information Analysis Engineer will also participate in component and data architecture design, software product evaluation and buy versus build recommendations. |

Remuneration |
The IAEA offers an attractive remuneration package including a tax-free annual net base salary starting at US $67 611 (subject to mandatory deductions for pension contributions and health insurance), a variable post adjustment which currently amounts to US $46 043*, dependency benefits, rental subsidy, education grant, relocation and repatriation expenses; 6 weeks' annual vacation, home leave,pension plan and health insurance.
