seek qualified candidates for position of SENIOR TECHNICAL OFFICER –CHILD PROTECTION, PAMOJA TUWALEE
PROGRAM-DSM.
Position Description:
The position will provide overall
strategic leadership in the development and implementation of child
safeguarding/protection activities in the Program both at national and local
levels. Will work closely and assist Program staff, Technical partners,
District Government Authorities and IPs to improve their child
safeguarding/protection implementation capacity and ensure child safeguarding/protection
policy is adhered throughout the program.
Key Responsibilities:
·
Supporting sub
grantees in reviewing policies and ensuring staff and volunteers adhere to
child safeguarding policy.
·
Developing tools
and guidelines that will guide sub grantees in implementing and monitoring
child safeguarding policy.
·
Providing technical
guidance to sub grantees and district councils, hospitals and other key
stakeholders in the establishment of one stop center that respond to child
abuses and gender based violence victims.
·
Providing technical
guidance to sub grantees and LGA’s in the implementation of activities on
protection of street children.
·
Representing the
organization at national and other levels on issues related to child
protection.
·
Providing technical
guidance on the formation of district child protection teams in districts.
·
Ensuring
functionality of the district child protection teams through trainings,
supportive supervision, coaching and mentoring.
·
Advocating for
subsidized or free of charge access to birth certificates for MVC.
·
Overseeing
identification, synthesis and dissemination of best practices and lessons
learned from child safe guarding/protection and other Program activities.
·
Supporting the
Program in periodic meetings with other key stakeholders to discuss
achievements, challenges and lessons learnt.
·
Participating in
the development of the Program work plan and budgets.
·
Participating in
writing monthly updates, and other reports as deemed necessary.
Position Requirements:
·
Master’s degree in Social Science, Public
Health, or Law and 5 years’ experience in child protection or other OVC work,
community and/or HIV related programs; or
Bachelor’s Degree with 7 years relevant experience.
·
Knowledge of relevant national and
international child rights and protection protocols and the Tanzanian Law of
the Child Act.
·
Skilled in reporting project results;
experience with PEPFAR projects is preferred.
·
Experience and ability to providing
technical assistance in the same.
·
Experience in planning and facilitating
trainings.
·
Experience in writing abstract and presenting
research findings in different audiences
·
Solid computer knowledge and skills -Microsoft-Word, Excel,
Power Point and other packages.
·
Excellent organizational and time management
skills.
·
Excellent interpersonal, teamwork,
and supervisory skills.
·
Solid communication skills, both oral and written,
in English and Swahili.
