Background
Roman Catholic Diocese of Mahenge headed by Rt. Rev. Bishop Dr. Agapit Ndorobo was established in April 1964 as Faith based Organization (FBO) with the mission of proclaim good news and met socio-economic needs of the society. The diocese implement Pamoja Tuwalee program a five years program (2010 to May 2015) funded by The President’s Emergency Plan for Aids Relief (PEPFAR) through the United States Agency for International Development(USAID). The goal of the program is to improve the quality of life and wellbeing of Most Vulnerable Children (MVC) and their households by empowering households and communities to provide comprehensive and sustainable care, support and protection.
RC Mahenge seek to recruit qualified, energetic and committed Tanzanian Candidate to fill the following post
JOB TITLE: OVC Focal Person
REPORT TO: Project Coordinator
BROAD FUNCTION
Full responsible for coordination of all OVC activities for the sub grantee, including, planning, designing, implementation, documentation, providing supportive supervision to volunteers and networking with the DSWO and other key stakeholders working with children in the District .
PRIMARY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide guidance for the overall OVC care and support activities. Responsible for coordinating the design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation OVC activities as well as ensuring that all recommendations related to OVC activities resulting from project audits, interim evaluations / reviews, supportive monitoring visits by Pamoja Tuwalee Regional and headquarter staff as well as your project coordinator are actioned / implemented accordingly.
Ensure that National standards, policies and guidelines on OVC care and support are implemented and understood by all volunteers through meetings, trainings and supportive supervision
Collaborate and network with district government departments of Social Welfare, Health, DACC’s office and others in such a way that Pamoja Tuwalee plans are incorporated into the District plans.
In collaboration with the project coordinator and other staff, establish effective networks and partnerships with other institutions and organizations within the District with interventions that complement and enhance OVC activities.
Document all lessons learned during the implementation of OVC activities in Pamoja Tuwalee program and share them with the project coordinator for further reporting to Pamoja Tuwalee office
Provide supportive supervision and mentoring to the volunteers during the implementation of planned OVC activities
Perform any other task assigned to you within the context of the evolving needs of Pamoja Tuwalee Program.
PERSON SPECIFICATIONS
Qualifications
Diploma/Bachelor in social work, community development, teaching or relater field
Experience
At least 2 years MVC experience.
Skills
Diploma/Bachelor in social work, community development, teaching or relater field
Experience of working with children at the local level at least for one year
Interest of working with stressed children
Spoken and written English. Swahili is a must
Understanding of OVC issues and how they relate to HIV/AIDS
Computer skills in other computer packages such as MS Office Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Access
Ability to work under pressure and to meet deadline
Honest and possessing a high level of integrity
