Summary of Contract:
The purpose of this USAID-funded contract is to conduct end of project evaluations of two critical projects supported by the Tanzania Natural Resource Management (NRM) Program: Landscape Scale Community Centered Ecosystem Conservation in western Tanzania implemented by the Jane Goodall Institute (JGI), and the Scaling up Conservation and Livelihoods Efforts in northern Tanzania (SCALE-TZ) implemented by African Wildlife Foundation (AWF). Findings from both evaluations will be used to contribute to lessons learned from project approaches and related outcomes, as well as contribute to new NRM program design. The evaluations shall be undertaken concurrently due to time constraints, to align with the new design phase for the NRM program. These evaluations are anticipated to begin at the end of April for a three month time-period.
Summary of Job:
The two evaluation teams will each require Evaluation Specialist. He/she will ensure that the design of the team’s evaluation plan and methodology is adequate in answering the relevant evaluation questions. The Evaluation Specialist will be instrumental in designing with the team data gathering instruments (e.g.: surveys/FGDs). He/she will lead the data analysis process and see that the findings of the data collected are communicated fully and accurately in the written evaluation report. He/she will coordinate closely with the Evaluation Team Leader.
Qualifications and Education Requirements:
- · Master’s Degree in statistics, social science or other relevant area required;
- At least eight years of experience in evaluation design
- · Experience in development methodologies and data collection skills
- · Experience conducting evaluations in natural resource management
- · Familiarity with the region preferred
