BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
•Bachelor’s degree in finance/accounting and 5 years related experience or equivalent combination.
•Experience with GAAP and fund accounting principles, practices and regulations.
•Technical experience with accounting/financial issues.
•Fluency in foreign language(s) (if required).
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Responsible for supporting all areas of finance for the Tuungane Program in Western Tanzania, a joint project between three organizations: The Nature Conservancy, Pathfinder International and the Frankfurt Zoological Society. Perform financial analysis, compare estimates to actual results, and recommend corrective action as appropriate for the joint program. Generate periodic internal and external reports for the Tuungane program management team and Executive Committee as well as assist in developing and implementing appropriate systems, policies and procedures related to financial reporting and analysis. Serve as resource to staff on financial matters, policies, procedures, guidelines, and educate staff as required. Responsible for overseeing the processing, approval and reporting of financial transactions. This position is also responsible for managing the day-to-day office administration services for the Tuungane Program’s Kigoma and Buhingu offices. S/he may coordinate such activities as central administrative processes (facility management, telecommunications, general maintenance/repairs, central services, mailroom operations, central filing, telephone/public reception and/or printing) or maintaining office supplies, general purchasing requests, and general office duties. This position includes frequent interaction with all members within the organization as well as donors, vendors, and business relations.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:
•At least 5 years related experience or equivalent combination.
•MBA and/or CPA preferred
•Excellent analytical and quantitative skills
•Expert knowledge of GAAP and understanding of fund accounting principles, practices and regulations.
•Technical expert on complex accounting/financial issues.
•Experience using and maintaining automated systems.
•Strong organizational skills and accuracy, attention to detail and ability to multi-task.

•Financial responsibility may include working within a budget to complete projects, negotiating and contracting with vendors, assisting with budget development, and meeting fundraising targets.
•May serve as a team leader for assigned projects and coordinate the work of others.
•Gain cooperation from individuals or groups over whom there is no direct authority in order to accomplish program goals.
•Responsibility and accountability for meeting departmental goals and objectives.
•Ensures that program complies with TNC policies and procedures and external requirements.
COMMUNICATIONS/INTERPERSONAL CONTACTS:
•Provide a leadership role in integrating financial management to support conservation objectives.

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL EFFORT:
