The UN Women Sub-Regional Office for East and Horn of Africa is developing its Economic Empowerment Programme for women at sub-regional and country levels with a conceptual shift from the livelihoods approach to greater emphasis on entrepreneurship development, asset building, business leadership and wealth creation. This programme will be implemented mainly at country level: Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Ethiopia, Sudan and Southern Sudan. UN Women is seeking the services of international consultants in entrepreneurship and enterprise development, and national consultants from the above mentioned countries with proven success in the following areas to support program design:
Agriculture production, processing and marketing Entrepreneurship and enterprise development Value chain systems development Small and Medium Enterprises development and appropriate technology Industrial development Business management Development Economics and economic literacy Qualifications/Requirements:
Academic degree in Agriculture, Agro-processing and marketing, Entrepreneurship Development, Economics, Development Economics, Accountancy, Social Science, Business Management, or any other related fields. An Advanced in any of the above areas is an added advantage Knowledge of entrepreneurship development issues Working knowledge and experience in project management A very good knowledge of computer applications especially Microsoft Office applications,particularly word,excel,a good presentation skills. Familiar with and experience with donor funded projects and donor reporting. Excellent command of written and oral English Excellent communication skills and intercultural sensitivity are essential. Professional Experience:
At least 15 years working experience (at least 5 years at international level) for International Consultant and 10 year experience for National Consultants, at progressively senior levels of program management and/or facilitation and in development cooperation, particularly in relation to formulation and preparation of multi-donor funded project documents.
Specific Professional Experience:
A proven knowledge of formulation, preparation and management of development projects (min 5 years). Experience working on entrepreneurships development. Professional experience with project management systems. Proven knowledge and working experience in an entrepreneurship development setup. A confirmed experience in working with EMPRETEC model of entrepreneurship development. Application Procedures:
