The Pan African Veterinary Vaccine Centre of the African Union (AU-PANVAC) launched a project on “Supporting food security and capacity building in African Union Member States through the sustainable control of Newcastle disease in village chickens: Design Phase”.
In implementing this project, AU-PANVAC seeks the services of a Project Manager.

2. Major duties and responsibilities:
• Under the direction of the Project Directors and KYEEMA Africa Regional Manager, provide administrative and financial oversight of the Australian Agency for International Development (AusAID) Phase 3 Project: “Supporting food security and capacity building in African Union member states through the sustainable control of Newcastle disease in village chickens. Design Phase”
• In collaboration with the Project Directors and KYEEMA support team, assist in developing work plans, specified milestone reports and other means of milestone verification, six monthly reports, the multi-year project proposal and the Project
Completion Report.
• Manage project procurement in-country and maintain the assets register.
• Maintain communications and procedural management systems in Ethiopia.
• Supervise KYEEMA Foundation expenditure in Ethiopia in accordance with the Project
Procedures Manual.
• Maintain financial management systems, in accordance with the KYEEMA Foundation
Project Procedures Manual including:
o weekly reconciliation of petty cash;
o checking and approval of payment of invoices; o preparation of monthly accounts; and
o oversight of accounts submitted by satellite offices.
• Liaise with officials from donor agencies and the relevant Government authorities as required to facilitate the successful implementation of the project.
• In collaboration with the Project Directors and KYEEMA support team, provide professional guidance and support to all advisers on the projects and supervise their performance to ensure that project objectives and outputs are achieved.
• Assist with the establishment of linkages with other international organisations and NGOs that are involved with complementary activities, especially working with village chickens.
• Assist with the identification and preparation of new projects for complementary funding by other donors.
• Promote awareness of gender and HIV issues in all activities.
• Other duties as required.
3. Qualifications and Experience Required
• University Degree in a relevant discipline (e.g. administration, business, project management etc)
• Willingness to travel as required to partner countries and Australia.
• Demonstrated high level of written and oral communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to work as a part of a team.
• Demonstrated ability to work in cross-cultural settings.
• Demonstrated ability to prioritize and deliver outputs in a timely fashion.
4. Professional experience required
The incumbent should have a minimum of Five (5) years with project administrative management with a development organization in Africa.
5. Language requirement
Proficiency in English and French. Knowledge of other AU working language(s) would be an added advantage.
6. Age requirement:
Candidates must preferably be between 30 and 55 years old.
7. Tenure of Appointment:
The appointment will be made on a short term contract until June 30th, 2013, the first three
(3) months of which shall be on probation. It shall be renewable subject to performance and availability of funds.

9. Remuneration: The salary attached to the position is an annual total sum of US$
85,676.84 for internationally recruited staff and US$ 76,005.80 for locally recruited staff.
