ECONOMIST - Control of Trypanosomiasis in Uganda (COCTU)

The Coordinating office for Control of Trypanosomiasis in Uganda (COCTU), a Secretariat of Uganda Trypanosomiasis Control Council (UTCC) which is an Agency of Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries (MAAIF) advertises the following vacancies: POSITION OF AN ECONOMIST (1) Applicants should be Ugandans holding an Honors’ Bachelor Degree in either Economics or quantitative Economics from a recognized University/Institution. Applicants should have well developed interpersonal and communication skills and should be Computer literate. Duty Station: Kampala Job Summary: Support the Uganda Trypanosomiasis Control Council (UTCC) Policy formulation, strategic planning, monitoring and evaluation functions. Duties and Responsibilities Support the preparation of COCTU strategic plan, annual and quarterly workplans. Asses and evaluate quarterly and annual performance of the Secretariat of Council, COCTU. Prepare timely and analytical reports. Prepare bankable project proposals for the secretariat of council. Support the development of gender dis-aggregated Data base within COCTU. Support the secretariat in the preparation UTCC’s contribution to MAAIF’s Annual Policy Statement.

Requirement: A Bachelors of Commerce or Business Administration with (Accounting/Finance option) Degree. Professional Accounting qualifications for example; ACCA or CPA. An MBA - in Finance Business Administration or related discipline is an added advantage. Applicants should have a minimum of three (3) - five (5) years in financial services experience as an auditor in public service or in a reputable organisation. Must be familiar with laws, risks, regulations and Acts pertaining to the procurement of goods and services, assets management and disposal, accounting, budgeting and expenditure control. Outstanding track record of strategic audit and financial management expenditure on a Government Ministry of NGO/institution. Good of analytical skills, sound judgment and collaborative working style with the capacity to work irt partnership with a range of different stakeholders. Ability to build interpersonal skills and strong leadership with all stakeholders.
