SUPERINTENDENT PROCESS SERVICES -Buzwagi Gold Mine

Our Buzwagi Mine based in Tanzania require an experienced Superintendent for Process Services in the Process Plant. The successful incumbent will be responsible to provide technical leadership to the Process Metallurgical Team.

This position will report to the Process Manager and is worked on a FIFO roster of 6/3 weeks.

KEY RESULT AREAS/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Provide leadership to ensure that employees and contractors adhere to safety and environmental standards that exceed worldwide industry practice and any applicable legislative requirements.
Manage Succession Planning within the Process Metallurgical Team to ensure that Barrick achieves development of Tanzanian employees to assume positions of increasing accountability. Development of Senior Metallurgists, Plant Metallurgists, Graduate Metallurgists and Process Operators to positions of increasing accountability is a Key Performance Indicator.
Lead the Buzwagi Metallurgy Team during construction, commissioning and operation to ensure agreed targets are achieved, within corporate safety and environmental guidelines in the areas of:

Financial: Capital Cost, Profits, Cash Flow and Balance Sheet Review

Mill Availability
Throughput and Recovery
Process Operating & Maintenance Costs and Capital Expenditure.

Manage activities of the Metallurgy Team to assure cost effective and high quality metal recovery activities, metallurgical performance and to optimise Company’s financial status and net smelter return. Achieving optimum metallurgical efficiency is a Key Performance Indicator.
Develop and maintain reporting procedures for production, metal recovery and operating cost. Implement commitment forecasts for Life of Mine.
Develop and maintain Metallurgical Accounting and Metallurgical Reconciliation procedures in readiness for plant commissioning.
Implement and monitor operations budgeting and cost control systems. Consumables cost per tonne is a Key Performance Indicator.
Provide technical input into development of training packages.
Provide ongoing training, mentoring and employee performance management, to develop and maintain a safe, competent and results orientated Process Team.
Lead Metallurgy Team during commissioning of Process Plant.
Coordinate concentrate and doré sales contracts.
Manage Site Assay Laboratory Contractor.

PROFESSIONAL AND INTERPERSONAL SKILLS/ATTRIBUTES

Education Requirements:

B. Chemical, Mineral Processing or Metallurgical Engineering, BSc. Metallurgy or similar.

Experience Requirements:

Minimum of 10 years progressive experience in variety of process operations including development and expansion. Experience with gravity recovery, base metals flotation, CIL, gold reconciliation, with at least 3 years in leadership role, is essential.
Demonstrated skills with capital justification, budget development, expenditure and controls.
Experience in systematic coaching and training of employees in developing country is essential.
Previous commissioning experience is advantageous.
