Coordinate all aspects of environmental closure of Tulawaka Gold Mine.
Key Responsibility/Areas
The incumbent will undertake all pre-closure planning and related activities at Tulawaka Gold Mine, Tanzania. His/her responsibilities will include:
Co-ordinate all aspects of environmental closure;
Identify and address closure permitting and reporting requirements;
Develop a closure plan for submission to regulatory authorities;
Compile detailed work plans for each facility and disturbed area in terms on reclamation and closure requirements;
Develop schedules and/or closure execution plans;
Support Community Relations in stakeholder engagement through closure committees and other forums;
Co-ordinate formal risk assessments and workshops;
Assist in increasing the accuracy of the closure cost estimate with 10%;
Register of local suppliers and service providers that may be able to assist with closure activities;
Provide input into safety and health programmes for workers, contractors and the public;
Provide guidance on staffing, resources and budget provisions;
Assist in obtaining closure plan approval and subsequent reporting; and
Document control and record keeping.
Key Qualifications
A bachelor’s degree in a discipline aligned to environmental science or environmental engineering.
A minimum of 5 years’ experience in Environmental Management.
Possess a good understanding of the environmental and social issues associated with mine closure and mine site rehabilitation.
Project management experience would be advantageous.
Ability to advise and communicate with various levels of the organisation.
Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, Project etc.).
