Head of Insurance and Asset Management Compliance

In furthering our objective to be a trusted, pro-active, independent advisor to business and making the Compliance culture an integral part of the way in which the Group does business, combined with the ever-increasing focus by regulators on Compliance in the insurance and asset management (“IAM”) area, it has been decided, in consultation with the relevant stakeholders, that the IAM Compliance and Private Clients areas should fall under an executive in the central Compliance team with specialist knowledge in this field. The Line of Business Compliance Officers in Insurance and Wealth Advisory, SBIB and SIL, Private Clients and Melville Douglas and Standard Executors and Trustees (4 in total) currently forming part of the PBB Compliance team will move to the IAM Compliance team. The IAM Compliance team will be required to work very closely with their colleagues in other Compliance and business areas, including but not limited to, PBB Compliance and Regulatory Support and FAIS Compliance.

Have in-depth knowledge of the general commercial aspects in respect of short- and long- term insurance, cell captives, Bancassurance, an understanding of the distribution channels for the sale of the insurance products and knowledge of, and experience in, applicable legislation;

• Have managed teams of people successfully;
• Have a proven track record in dealing with senior management and executives at the highest level of an organisation;
• Have a proven track record in dealing with regulators;
• Be an admitted attorney, with 10 years’ + post-article experience in commercial work with a focus on retail banking and insurance;
• Be a skilled negotiator;
• Have superior communication and drafting skills and focus on attention to detail.
• Knowledge of a corporate's insurance requirements to cover the insurance risks arising from a corporate's business e.g. professional indemnity, directors and officers etc.;
• Liaising with stakeholders in respect of their insurance requirements;
• Liaising with underwriters and brokers;
• Assessment of submitted claims;
• Knowledge of cell captives and liaising with cell captive;
• Assessment of the Group’s applicable policies and the negotiation and conclusion of such policies annually;
• General assistance for the Group Head, Governance & Assurance in respect of insurance matters.
