Reports to: Programme Manager- Economic Empowerment Programme.
The programme Assistant shall be responsible for the direct implementation of the farming partnership project in Bugiri District. The project works to build strategic partnerships with National Agricultural Advisory Services (NAADs) and other district agricultural development programmes. He/she will ensure that there is increased inclusion of farmers with disabilities including their parents and caretakers in farming and other existing poverty alleviation programmes in the district.
Duties and responsibilities:
• Lead and manage programme activities at district level
• Initiate and build strong partnerships with stakeholders in poverty alleviation sector in the district
• Mobilise PWDs to participate in poverty alleviation
• programmes in the district
• Train PWD farmers in identified training needs
• Advocate for the inclusion of farmers with disabilities in agricultural development initiatives
• Identify and link farmers with disabilities to existing agricultural initiatives
• Arrange farmer exchange visits within and without the district
• Liaise with relevant district local government officials in the signing memorandum of understanding Actively represent PWDs in disability and agricultural forums at district level
• Produce and submit timely monthly and quarterly programme reports to the headquarters and to other relevant stakeholders.
• Carry any other duty as assigned by Programme Manager and district union management
Requirement:
Qualifications:
An honour Degree in any of the following:
Agriculture, Agricultural extension, Environmental management, Agribusiness, BSc Agricultural land use and management, Veterinary and Diary farming
Required skills and competencies:
Good mobilization, motivational and advocacy skills Organizational, analytical and problem solving skills Team building skills Reporting writing skills Training/facilitation skills.
