Bristol, UK
This post offers an excellent opportunity for an experienced researcher to join a multidisciplinary academic team, led by Professor Julian Hamilton-Shield, in the School of Social and Community Medicine. Your role is central to the success of this NIHR HTA-funded randomised controlled trial of a computer device (Mandolean) to retrain eating behaviours in obese children and their families.
Your main task is managing the trial, including further developing protocols and standard operating procedures for each of the study processes, further developing databases for managing the research and outcome data, supporting the delivery of the intervention in ten primary care clinics in Bristol, managing a research associate and administrator employed on this project, overseeing the recruitment and follow-up of patients participating in the trial and being accountable for ensuring that the trial is conducted to the highest possible standards.
You will be expected to work on your own initiative, seeking guidance and advice where necessary from the principal investigator and trial management group. You will have autonomy and freedom to act independently within organisational policies, and will need to take a high level of responsibility.
If successful, you may be appointed either on a fixed term or a permanent contract depending on the extent of your previous relevant research experience. Further information can be found at www.bristol.ac.uk/personnel/ftc/
