Diarrheal disease is now the biggest killer of children in Africa. 2.6 billion people globally do not have access to a safe place to go to the toilet; and almost 900 million people do not have access to the most basic of human needs – safe drinking water. Can you help WaterAid change this?
Governments and donors are happy to make promises, but often less keen to follow up on them. This post analyses the key indicators in the water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) sector and identifies the critical obstacles standing in the way of delivering services to the poor. The postholder will influence sector and aid debates on the best ways to hold governments to account on their commitments, and to improve the way progress on water and sanitation is monitored, so finance and services can be better targeted at areas that need it most.
You will be a keen and experienced graduate, with proven and grounded knowledge of global and national debates on international development, aid effectiveness and development economics. You will demonstrate innovative approaches to data analysis and presentation that will make change possible.
