Objectives:
The incumbent responsible for installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of systems hardware and software, databases and related infrastructure including technical research and development for innovation continuity within the infrastructure and also to ensure system hardware, operating systems, software, databases for TTCL Data Centre are adhered to organizational procedures and values to staff and customers facilitation.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Establish requirements and design Server for TTCL systems, performing configuration; directing system installation; defining, documenting, and enforcing system standards.
2. Maximize Servers, Operating systems and database performance by monitoring performance; troubleshooting problems and outages; scheduling upgrades; performing system optimization.
3. Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
4. Accomplishes information systems and organization mission by completing related results as needed.
5. Reporting server operational status by gathering, prioritizing information; managing projects.
6. Ensure System backup is performed and data sent offsite
. 7. Resolve all reported server outage incidents at data centres and take actions to prevent recurrence on future.
8. Plan, Develop, document, implement and update business continuity and disaster recovery plan for ICT systems.
9. Maintains quality service by following organization and industry standards.
10. Harden server by performing upgrades and configurations to improve risks status.
11. Work with TTCL project managers in designing, installing and configuring ICT systems for TTCL and customers.
12. Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs such as backups and other automated jobs.
13. Install new/rebuild existing servers and configure hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage, interfaces etc. in accordance with standards and project/operational requirements.
14. Perform regular file archival and purge as necessary.
15. Create, change, and delete user accounts per request.
16. Repair and recover from hardware or software failures. Coordinate and communicate with impacted users.
17. Apply OS patches and upgrades on a regular basis, and upgrade administrative tools and utilities. Configure/add new services as necessary.
18. Perform ongoing performance tuning, hardware upgrades, and resource optimization as required. Configure CPU, memory, and disk partitions as required.
19. Communicate effectively with all stakeholders and users to address application issues, upgrades and changes.
20. Research, propose and implement systems enhancements that will improve the reliability, features and performance of the assigned systems and applications.
21. Provide consistent and reliable support to the users and provide training and documentation for optimal use of the application
. 22. Any other duties as may be assigned by respective controlling officer.
Key Qualifications / Experience / Skills:
• University Degree in Computer science/Electrical/Electronics/Telecommunications Engineering or equivalent qualification. • At least two (2) years experience in systems administration in a highly reputable organization. • Strong knowledge of IT operations and Business Support Systems. • Knowledge in computer operations LINUX, Windows 2010 working environments and Exchange Server 2010 • Networking knowledge preferably Microsoft and Cisco networking • Database knowledge specifically MSSQL or oracle. • Proficient with independently troubleshooting, researching and resolving technically challenging problems involving integrated systems. • Identifying problems; recognizing significant information; making connections between data; tracing possible causes of problems; investigating relevant data. Capable to participate in multi-domain root cause analysis activities. • Presentation and advisory skills for technical and non technical audiences. • Proper judgment to involve other parties at the right time and drawing correct and realistic conclusions based on the information available. • Budgeting and tracking budget Expenses and Project Management. • Problem Solving.
