Systems Librarian
Fixed term until 31st March 2016
Part time, 21 hours per week (0.6 FTE)
The Institute’s library, the British Library for Development Studies (BLDS), holds Europe's largest collection on economic and social research. BLDS has recently re-launched its document delivery service to provide enhanced access to these materials. The Library provides technical support to the Institute’s OpenDocs Digital Repository and manages the BLDS Digital Library, a collaboration with southern institutions across Asia and sub-Saharan Africa, digitising and profiling southern research.
We are looking for an enthusiastic Systems Librarian to join our team committed to improving global access to development research literature, especially publications from developing countries. The successful candidate will have a good knowledge of Internet, Library and Open Access Repository technologies, systems and standards. S/he will be able to demonstrate effective use of open source repository software and library systems, website CMS, analytics tools, SQL databases and query language, and web programming.

We require someone to quickly get up to speed and help us to support and maintain BLDS’s information systems to deliver research content in new and innovative ways. If you have got what it takes technically and are good at liaising with techies and non-techies then we would like to hear from you.
