Unilever Tea Tanzania Limited is a plantation company operating under Unilever Tea, East Africa (UTEA). UTTL employs over 5,500 employees whose safety and security are very important to the business.

We are currently looking to hire Electrical Technician, for our Tanzania business. This role will be both office and field based and requires candidates with knowledge for the job. If you are looking for a career in Unilever then you are the person we are looking for.

Job Position: Electrical Technician (1 post)

Reports to:   Site Engineer

Location: Njombe

Main purpose of the role

Application of engineering principles to ensure the optimum design, installation and reliable performance of production and services facilities within Unilever Tea Tanzania Limited

Key Responsibilities

A: Electrical Plants and Machinery Upkeep

1. Monitor electrical problems to all installations including staff houses and water supply pump stations

2. Scheduling and supervising available electricians and ensure smooth running of factories operations

3. Attending and co-coordinating major and minor electrical breakdowns with other maintenance crew around the company site

4. Maximizing asset availability by optimizing spare part inventory

5. Understanding and application of TPM principles, e.g. supporting AM,EEM/planned maintenance

6. Radio, communication and telecommunication systems and repairs

7. Recognizing impacts of material specifications on improving performance, quality repairs and loss elimination

8. Running and upkeep of irrigation electrical pumps and all pump houses

9. Provision of energy use reduction solutions in all primary tea processing factories

10. Managing asset safety, regulatory affairs and application of engineering standards


B: Safety, Health & Environment

1. Implement clearly defined company policies and standards on electrical safety meeting local and international standards

2. Develop and implement activities on Unilever Sustainable Living Plan, reducing usage of electricity at the same time power house emission brought down to minimal levels

3. Conduct safety engagements covering Behavioral safety audits; Planned safety inspections; Safe Travel; Deep compliance audits and Near miss reporting on all areas of electrical safety within the company and implement actions fully to address safety concerns

4. Ensure LOTO systems are fully operational in all factories and departments

5. Ensure that all incidents are promptly reported and investigated according to the set procedures.

6. Deliver environmental milestones and programmes on waste management.

 Engineering Project Management

 Should have a diploma in Electrical Engineering and at least two years experience.

 Effective communication and influencing skills

 Good spoken/written English and Swahili languages

 Good computer skills

 Flexibility with work hours depending upon business needs

 Experience in Supply Chain operations

 Good interpersonal and management skills
