Transitional Justice and Peacebuilding - Internship/Traineeship - UNITAR

Programme description
The UNITAR Peacekeeping Training Programme (PTP) is a specialized programme in the framework of the Peace, Security and Diplomacy Unit of UNITAR, which offers a systematic and comprehensive preparation, through innovative and results-oriented trainings, in the fields of peacekeeping and peacebuilding. Since its establishment in 2009, UNITAR PTP provides high-quality training comprised of both basic and advanced courses.
UNITAR PTP offers an internship/traineeship opportunity for young professionals or fresh postgraduate students. The working experience is designed to allow interns/trainees to strengthen their knowledge and gain practical experience in the training and learning field, with a specialization in topics related to peacekeeping and peacebuilding.
The project:
In the past 60 years, many are the lessons learnt in the field of transitional justice, particularly with regard to truth-seeking, justice mechanisms and reforming state institutions. Drawing on these experiences, UNITAR PTP's experts developed a vision that promotes a holistic approach to transitional justice, integrating its strategies and including its mechanisms and measures in the broader framework of the peacebuilding and reconciliation efforts. To this extent, UNITAR PTP approaches Transitional Justice through a practical problem-solving perspective aiming at developing a solid awareness of the transitional justice framework and concepts while also emphasizing its role and potentialities in post-conflict contexts.
In the midst of its initiatives, UNITAR PTP aims at assisting societies devastated by conflict or emerging from repressive rule to re-establish the rule of law and come to terms with large-scale human rights violations. UNITAR PTP therefore offers a variety of training activities related to transitional justice and human rights in order to ensure accountability, serve justice and achieve reconciliation.
