Are you passionate about improving the livelihoods of smallholder cotton farmers? Do you have substantial experience of leading large and complex sector development programmes, in Africa?
Oxford HR is helping the Gatsby Charitable Foundation to recruit a highly experienced individual as Cotton Programme Director to lead the Cotton and Textile Development Programme (CTDP) in Tanzania. The role will lead on strategy development, manage the programme team, oversee implementation, supervise finances and logistics, and maintain critical relationships with all stakeholders, including local and national government.
The ideal candidate will need to have an understanding and belief in market-based solutions for development, strong project management skills, comprehensive understanding of the constraints faced by smallholder farmers, and familiarity with the donor landscape. S/he will have strong strategic thinking skills and good judgment, excellent interpersonal, diplomatic and persuasive skills, and powerful analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex and conflicting information with excellent judgment. A self-starter with plenty of energy, s/he will shows integrity, professionalism and empathy with the mission and values of the Gatsby Charitable Foundation, and have excellent written and verbal communication skills in English. Working knowledge of Kiswahili would be a significant advantage.
