Our Resource Planning and Development division manages conceptual and order of magnitude studies in the Pilbara as well as resourcing projects that range from five to fifty years in the area of mine planning, geology, geotechnical hydrogeology and metallurgy. The resource estimation team also provides support to operating sites and exploration projects.

Reporting to the Superintendent Resource Estimation, you will undertake development of resource models to meet time frames and technical objectives of long term mine planning and expansion projects. In addition, you will coach and mentor resource estimation and graduate estimation geologists.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Developing resource models produced for RTIO to meet both internal and external standards
• Supporting the Evaluation & Projects teams
• Performing extensive validation of models against geology and previous models and production data
• Providing geological and resource expertise data, information and knowledge to our customers
• Validating the resultant models against geology, the original model, production data and any other data source deemed suitable
• Ensuring development of tools allowing for prediction, management and optimisation
• Providing detailed information to the resources database.

To be considered for this role, you will hold a Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Geology. Extensive experience in Resource and Mine Geology is essential. Demonstrable experience in advanced resource modelling, geostatistical methods, resource classification and risk assessments. You should have an understanding of mine scheduling, grade control and reconciliation. Iron ore experience and a good working knowledge of Vulcan software, coupled with a post graduate geostatistics qualification will be highly regarded.
