Education Development Center (EDC) is a leader in international programs and research. Established in 1958, EDC designs, delivers and evaluates innovative programs to address some of the world’s most urgent challenges in education, health, and economic opportunity. EDC expects to have an increasing presence in Tanzania and is looking for exceptionally qualified and committed individuals with the below qualifications for an anticipated child labor elimination program in Tanzania.
Project Director
The Project Director will have overall responsibility for leading and managing the project and will oversee its administrative, programmatic, and operational implementation. S/he will establish and maintain systems for project operations; ensure that all cooperative agreement deadlines are met and targets are achieved; maintain working relationships with project stakeholders; and oversee the preparation and submission of technical and financial reports to USDOL. S/he will supervise the work and provide guidance to the project field office personnel, sharing her/his expertise.
Qualifications:
Minimum of five years of experience in project management, supervision, administration, and implementation on a child protection program
Bachelor’s level degree required, Master’s degree strongly preferred.
Experience leadership roles on exploitative and hazardous child labor in implementing child labor projects
Establishes and maintains systems for project operations.
Maintains working relationships with all project stakeholders, including advocacy, coalition building and public-private partnerships promotion
Actively participates in child protection and child labor-related implementation meetings and policy discussions.
Fluent English language skills required. Proficiency in Kiswahili is an asset.
Demonstrated leadership and administrative skills in the management of complex, multi-activity programming, on time and on budget
At least 10 years of experience managing or supporting donor-funded programs (preferably US Government) valued at $5 million or more.
Excellent written and oral communication skills
