Position Description:
Duty station:SOS Herman Gmelner School Arusha Reporting to: School Principal
Scope
The Herman Gmeiner School Handyman is responsible for the maintenance and repair of buildings, equipment, appliances and furniture within the Hermann Gmeiner School Arusha and associated projects. In all of his activities he presents himself as a role model for the children, and encourages them to help him in his work so that they may learn practical skills.
Major Responsibilities:
Maintains and repairs buildings including replacing broken windows, changing light-bulbs, repairing electrical circuits etc.
Maintains and repairs water and sewage installations including drains, pipelines, water mains, sewage plant etc. Maintains an accurate inventory of tools and equipment and ensures that they are properly cared for, cleaned and maintained. Maintains and updates accurate stock cards for all consumable supplies.
Ensures the workshop is kept in a clean and orderly condition Ensures the safety of all equipment, particularly in children's play areas and within the family houses
Qualifications & Skills
CSEE and Certificate in full Technician from any recognized VETA colleges / institutions
At least two years working experience preferably with in this field
Basic knowledge on Child rights and child protection Ability to work with minimum supervision
Computer basic skills especially Microsoft word
