Justification and purpose of the consultancy: The purpose of the consultancy is to provide co-ordination support to the upcoming the Pastoralist Education Conference to be held in Nairobi.
Summary of Duties and Responsibilities Organizing and participating in meetings for the Pastoralist Education Conference Steering Committee Developing and delivering presentations that are within the technical expertise and TORs of the consultant- Managing guest speakers consultation with PISP Developing and compiling reports to be disseminated before and during the conference Ensuring that the conference runs smoothly and according to the agenda producing a report based on the findings and recommendations from the conference
Conditions of the consultancy: The work must be completed within the set time frame. PISP will pay the consultant according to the terms and conditions of the contract that will be signed between the successful candidate(s) and PISP.
Minimum Education, Skills and Abilities: 1. Master’s degree in social sciences or related technical field (preferably in education, social sciences - education in emergencies or similar fields) 2. At five years’ experience of working in field of pastoralist education and/or education in emergencies 3. Strong analytical and research background yielding well analyzed and actionable reports as well as an established track record in professional report writing 4. Strong understanding and evidence of good presentation and communication skills and experience 5. Fluency in both written and spoken l English language
6. Professionalism, commitment and punctuality are important qualities for this position 7. The consultant should have a reliable and well-functioning laptop 8. Ability and evidence of past experience of multitasking and management of multiple projects and work assignments 9. Excellent interpersonal skills both in person and by phone, with high professionalism. 10. Ability to accomplish projects with little supervision.
Duration of consultancy:-
30 working days spread out in two calendar months of October and November 2012
Deliverables of the consultancy-
- A comprehensive assignment report
- A compilation of all the presentations and contacts of the conference presenters and participants
- A summary on the highlights of the conference resolutions and achievements, lessons and way forward to guide media supplements and publications.
