Child Protection Project Manager Afghanistan
Position Start Date : 1st of October 2012
Project Duration : 7 months (Until April 2013)
Position Location : Based in Kabul, Afghanistan, with field visits
Supervisor :
The country Representative Afghanistan
Supervises :
1 street patrols supervisor, 1senior translator, 1 provincial base manager and 1 database manager
Contractual Conditions:
Swiss salaried contract 3 402 Chf (~2800€) < > 4 550 Chf (~3 700€) net salary/month according to experience x 13, Annual Leave: 25 days per year + R&R system including 5 days every 10 weeks + participation to the cost of travel up to a maximum of 1000 USD. General responsibilities:
The Child Protection Project Manager will ensure the management of two components of the CRC III programme related to street and/or working children (axis 1) and particularly vulnerable children (axis 3), in close collaboration with the CRC partners and under the supervision of the Country Representative. The Child Protection Project Manager will also ensure that Tdh Child Protection Policy is respected both during the implementation of the activities and within the delegation of Tdh in Afghanistan.
Programme Coordination – axis 1 & 3:
• To ensure, in collaboration with the Country Representative, that the project objectives are met and the targets reached.
• To implement the activities of the CRC with the partners and under the supervision of the Programme Coordinator. Participate actively in the supervision of the axis 1 and 3 of the programme.
• To monitor and evaluate the activities progresses and outputs/outcomes on a regular basis together with the partners and under the supervision of the Programme Coordinator.
• To plan and conduct experience/skills sharing and workshops between the CRC members. Organization of internal and external training led on the programme if needed.
• To participate in the capitalization process at the end of the programme and in the elaboration of costed models.
Representation and networking:
• To assure the communication with all the partners and ensure the presentation/update of Tdh principles and the programme activities.
• To maintain smooth relationships with the concerned governmental and non-governmental bodies.
• To ensure networking and participate in relevant child protection meetings, trainings, discussions.
Team Management:
• To ensure that team members are aware of their duties, the programme objectives, have enough skills and tools to achieve their tasks.
• To follow up the work of the team members. (Give regular feedbacks, appreciations and sanctions if needed).
• To control that team members are respecting internal rules and regulations, respecting deadlines, and are efficient.
• To ensure conflicts resolution and play the role of mediator if required.
Reporting:
• To draft monthly and quarterly reports and all documents related to the activities in collaboration with the CRC team.
• To participate in the draft of policies and strategies related to child protection and the programme activities.
• To contribute the draft of reports to donors, public authorities, partners, UN agencies with the CRC team.
Child Protection Policy:
• To commit to respect Tdh Risk Management Policies including: Child Protection Policy, Safety and Security Policy and Anti-Fraud/Corruption Policy, Whistle Blowing Policy.
• To commit to ensure the best implementation possible of the Tdh Risk Management Policies in Afghanistan.
• To commit to inform supervisors and to deal with any cases, allegations, or possibility of transgression, even potential, of the Tdh
Risk Management Policies.
Qualification and experiences:
Education: Degree in social science or law; courses/training on project cycle management and human/child rights.
Language: Fluency in written and oral English, ability to draft report.
Experience: Minimum 3 years of solid experience in programme coordination in the development sector; Experience in child protection programme and in team management. Experience in Afghanistan.
Skills:
Knowing of the principles of Child Protection (UNCRC).
- Proven initiative, flexibility and proactivity.
- Flexibility to travel to field (Mazar, Herat, and Jalalabad) when required.
- Well organized and analytic person.
- Pedagogic skills for presentations and teachings.
- Computer literate (Microsoft Office).
