The project is intended to contribute to the safe and sustainable reintegration of returnees, and to the community development through strengthening the capacity of public health infrastructures such as providing safe water and strengthening the capacity for managing these infrastructures within communities in Kapoeta South, Kapoeta North, Lafon and Budi Counties.
Under the direct supervision of Programme Coordinator at AAR Japan Kapoeta Office, the Project Assistant for WASH Programme, Community Development is expected to carry out the following duties;
a. Plan, prepare and implement Village Water Management Committees training and its
refreshers and other trainings related to water supply activities. Conduct assessment activities
including needs assessment, baseline and post assessment to assess the impacts of the
water supply project.
b. Assist in preparing and implementing the community borehole construction activities. The work includes, but not limited to: encouraging the concerned communities to participate in the construction work, provision of necessary basic technical advice to the communities on pump installation and platform construction, and assisting in the construction process as necessary.
c. Assist in planning, preparing and implementing the school hygiene education project, which includes, but not limited to: coordination with the concerned offices of the counties, assisting schools to design and implement hygiene activities. Conduct Training of Trainers (hereinafter referred to as “TOT”) on CHAST for school teachers and monitoring and assessment.
d. Assist in planning, preparing and implementing the community latrine construction project, which includes, but not limited to: encouraging community people to construct latrines using CLTS methodology, train communities on simple latrine construction skills, and monitoring procedure and assessment methodology.
e. Assist in planning, preparation and implementation of latrine construction in town areas.
f. Assist other WASH and Health-related activities as necessary and as appropriate;
g. Prepare trip plan for field activity and its completion report with specific details of the activities, constraints and recommendations.
h. Perform other duties as assigned by the Supervisor
a. Completion of secondary school education
b. More than two years of experience in community development, hygiene and sanitation promotion or other WASH related project with NGOs or other relevant organizations.
c. Experience in the field of facilitation is a significant advantage.
d. Fluency in Arabic and English is a must. Ability to speak Toposa is an asset.
e. Good organizational, interpersonal, communication and training skills and ability to carry out work in an efficient and timely manner
f. Good Computer skill (MS Word, Excel)
