Solidaridad is expanding its agricommodities team and is looking for a: senior market developer palm oil - (36hours) - You will drive our oil palm market development programme in Europe and the United States. - You will develop and maintain market partnerships with relevant players in the downstream palm oil market. - You will actively work with our offices in Asia, Africa and Latin America to provide market linkages to projects and programmes that structurally improve the social and environmental impact of oil palm cultivation and processing. - You have a clear and inspiring vision on improving the impacts of oil palm through market incentives and you are able to translate this vision into action. - You are capable of working with people that have different professional and cultural backgrounds. - You have a thorough understanding of corporate social responsibility as well as the trends and dynamics in vegetable oil markets, and the end markets that the oil palm industry serves (food, feed, fuel, fibre). The senior market developer oil palm leads the palm oil work in Solidaridad the Netherlands and liaises with network colleagues around the world to coordinate Solidaridad's global palm oil programme. Responsibilities include: • Relationship development and management with corporate partners, programme financers and other relevant stakeholders. • Programme development and management pertaining to oil palm in Europe and the US • Project formulation and integration of field projects into corporate supply chain • Drive interventions in multi-stakeholder settings such as RSPO that create more favourable conditions for market-based sustainability enhancement • Fundraising, with a particular focus on corporate match funding • Coaching of junior market developer in the field of oil palm • Feed into Solidaridad communications to internal and external stakeholders inside and outside the scope of palm oil The senior market developer oil palm will report to the head of the agricommodities team of Solidaridad in The Netherlands.

Functie-eisen

• 5 to 10 years of relevant working experience in market research and analysis, corporate social responsibility, procurement and/or the bulk commodities sector. • Master's degree in a relevant discipline, such as economics, international affairs, environmental studies, business or public administration, etc. • Thorough understanding of sustainability issues related to oil palm, and a vision on possible intervention strategies and change agents in relation to market development. • Demonstrated ability to deal with various stakeholders, e.g. business, NGOs, donors, governments • Fluency in English, proficiency of Dutch. • Affinity with the goals of Solidaridad, service-oriented, team player, enterprising, pragmatic, flexible, sensitive to cultural differences, and with good communicative skills. • Proficiency in German, Bahasa Indonesia, Spanish, and/or Portuguese is appreciated. • Working experience in palm oil producing countries or in Asia is appreciated.
