The National Bank of Rwanda (BNR) is seeking to recruit competent and capable professionals in the following position “Senior Economist, Research Division”
Duties and responsibilities
- Assist in the implementation of the division operational plans and activities;
- Carry out general and sector based research studies;
- Conduct research on structural changes in the economy in the interest of the BNR in its core mission, particularly the formulation and conduct its Monetary and Exchange rate policy;
- Process and analyse economic and financial data collected;
- Liaise with statistics department in the collection and compilation of relevant data and information;
- Assist in compiling relevant sections of the Bank’s annual report, bulletins, technical notes etc;
- Provide day to day technical guidance and support to Economists in the division;
- To carry out other duties as directed by the management of the Bank.
- Assist in developing terms of reference and identifying appropriate research methodology;
- Conduct comprehensive research on macroeconomic aggregates;
- Provide input in the development of government economic policies;
- Compare the evolution of financial and monetary indicators to those of the sub region countries;
Academic and professional qualification
- Must possess PhD in econometrics or economics with 1 year of experience or Master’s Degree in econometrics or economics with 3 of years experience in a relevant position, strong quantitative skills, including being familiar with Eviews, STATA,SPSS,MATLAB softwares.
Important skills and competencies
- The candidate must be able to demonstrate strong communication, leadership, analytical and organizational skills.
- Fluent in the English language. The knowledge of French is an added advantage;
- Maximum 40 years of age.
