Programme Officer – Southern Africa based in Lusaka, Zambia (£23’393 to £25’703 - This may be paid tax free if certain HMRC criteria are met)
We are looking for a Programme Officer to be based in Southern Africa (Zambia) to support capacity and skills development of programme Country Office staff to ensure high-quality implementation and reporting of on-going projects, and the development of new high-quality project proposals. The Programme Officer will also build and maintain strong relationships with institutional donors in country and provide support to programme staff in London, for example, by following up issues in person in the sub-region or elsewhere in Africa, and participating in regional processes as appropriate.
Applicants should have proven experience of managing sizeable development projects and supporting project implementation including coaching key members of staff and /or facilitating workshops and training. Budget management experience and knowledge of donor compliance, particularly for the EC, DfID and/or the UN is also a must.
There will be support provided by the Country Office staff, however, as the position is line managed at a distance by the London-based Head of Institutional Donors and Grants, we are looking for candidates with experience of living and working independently in a field environment with an ability to be flexible and proactively problem solve and remain calm under pressure when difficulties arise.
