1. Job Title: Programme Manager, Northern Uganda Reporting to: Deputy Country Director
Job Objective
Based in Kitgum but with frequent travels to all Districts in Northern Uganda where AMREF operates, the job holder will primarily be responsible for the management, coordination, leadership and representation of the AMREF operations in the Acholi sub region. S/he will provide technical and management leadership in the development of clarity of focus in all the strategic and operational aspects of AMREF's programme development initiatives in Northern Uganda with an overall line management role to the Northern Uganda Project Managers.
Management responsibility
1. Spearheading the programme strategy development and implementation in Northern Uganda areas.
2. Ensure optimal resource management
3. Member of the Country Senior Management Team.
4. Ensure integration and synergy across all AMREF programnmes and projects in Northern Uganda
5. Ensure that all AMREF initiatives in Northern Uganda are aligned to the AMREF Uganda strategy.
Specific areas of responsibility
• Ensure that AMREF's projects in Northern Uganda have a clear strategy and operational guidelines.
• Promote participatory and supportive management of the AMREF team.
• Coordinate the development and implementation of high quality projects.
• Carry on support supervision in the field to ensure that the assigned portfolio of work is integrated within Northern Uganda and within the country programme and that project experiences are consistently documented, widely shared and utilized for evidence-based advocacy at the local and national level.
• Improve the visibility/credibility of AMREF among stakeholders and ensure prudent management of and quality reporting on activities and budgets.
• Ensure that the agreed project plans and budgets are monitored very closely and that high levels of quality, accountability and transparency are maintained throughout
• Liaise and network with relevant AMREF partners and collaborators to improve AMREF's visibility, coordination of activities and promotion of shared advocacy agenda.
• Promote participatory and supportive management of the AMREF team on site to ensure innovation and professional growth.
• Interface of all AMREF programmes in the North.

Job requirement
Qualifications and Relevant Experience
• Degree in Public health, M.B.Ch.B
• Post graduate diploma in public health or closely related field.
• Masters in related field is desirable
• Proven experience of operations research and/or publications in the health field
• At least 5 years of direct experience of managing complex integrated and behavioral change programnmes preferably in Health development, with a reputable international NGO
