Overview
Mobius is an early stage social business working to enable mobility across Africa by transforming its automotive market. We recognise that appropriate transport is a key enabler to socio-economic development in deprived communities across the developing world and aim to unlock this vast potential by designing, manufacturing and selling a new vehicle for Africa, starting in Kenya.
The Role
We are seeking a minimum one year commitment from an exceptional early career professional, Kenyan citizen to provide world class support. The role will require a close working relationship with the venture’s CEO, Automotive Engineer, Automotive Designer and local Kenyan mechanics and welders on the team. Becoming an executive apprentice will require hustle, dedication, time management and hands-on learning abilities in an entrepreneurial environment. We work hard and no challenge is too great. As a face of Mobius Motors, you will always be held to the highest professional standards within the organization and throughout the community.
Specific duties include, but are not limited to:
1. Providing first-rate support to the Mobius team; working as an active member of the team, ensuring effective communication between colleagues and positively contributing regularly to meetings and briefings.
2. Negotiating with suppliers and managing logistics to support an efficient and timely procurement operation.
3. Taking ownership of delegated projects, managing associated budget, delivery schedules and resources (including other team members), and supervising quality control.
4. 4 Applying newly acquired international business principles and rigor to resolve a wide range of problems with appropriate solutions.
5. Utilising superb problem solving skills to anticipate issues, resolve problems, run errands and meet deadlines; requiring you to think outside of the box.
6. Stepping up into the challenging apprentice role where you’ll be relied upon heavily to ensure the office flows smoothly; being prepared to work immediately at any capacity to get the job done.
7. Managing the front office and keeping common areas clean and organized; restocking facilities.
8. Scheduling meetings, coordinating travel arrangements, screening phone calls, handling correspondence, maintaining databases, basic bookkeeping and assisting with recruitment.
9. Bringing a friendly, positive energy and a ‘yes, we can’ attitude to the office everyday.
Qualifications
An ideal candidate should combine outstanding technical skills with excellent interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively with a multidisciplinary team. They should be rigorous, pragmatic and on-the-ground solution focussed – not overly academic.
Required
* Education from a top university with an undergraduate and/or graduate degree
* Proven leadership ability and the drive to acquire new skills and continue to develop
* Fluency in English and Kiswahili
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* Ability to adapt to a dynamic working environment, work within a diverse team
* Ability to learn quickly and self manage; taking ownership of projects: budgeting, work planning, resource management and reporting
* Executing projects/tasks quickly and with flawless accuracy, with great systematic attention to detail
* Experience creating and editing Microsoft Word/Excel documents; internet research
* A start-up personality; entrepreneurial, ambitious, independent, systematic attention to detail, structured thinker, goal-oriented, flexible and able to deal well with setbacks
* Kenyan citizenship or permanent residence
