TechnoServe is implementing the STRYDE Program - Strengthening Rural Youth Development through Enterprise - in Uganda, Kenya and Rwanda and the program shall be launched in October 2011. In Uganda, the four-year program will support 5,000 rural youth in the Central and Northern regions with the goal to increase their productive economic engagement. The following opportunities are available under the program in Uganda:
2. Business Advisor (Youth Development)
The key role is to provide management of youth development activities for the project. The Business Advisor will work closely with youth trainers, participants, local stakeholders, and sub-contractors, as well as respective country and regional management. S/he will be responsible for timely and effective implementation of project activities. Reports to Senior Business Manager.
Duties and responsibilities will include:
• Train youth trainers and facilitate training sessions, as needed;
• Collect relevant data for reporting, monitoring and evaluation purposes;
• Facilitate the mentoring of rural youth entrepreneurs to execute their business plans i.e. starting up and expanding their businesses.
• Supervise and support a team of youth trainers;
• Ensure the delivery of technical training packages is of high quality, is appropriate to the local context, and is effectively reaching participants.

Job requirement
• Degree qualifications in business-related studies required;
• Strong project management and financial analysis skills;
• Minimum of three years field and technical experience with agribusiness development, youth development, or entrepreneurship in Uganda is required;
• Experience working with youth training and/or mentorship programs preferred;
• Excellent interpersonal and oral and written communication skills a must;
• Willingness to be based in Gulu, ability to travel internationally, and ability to travel to remote rural locations.
