Acacia Mining seeks to employ a General Operator - Dewatering based at Buzwagi Mine. This role reports to the Mining Services First Line Leader and the role holder will be accountable to deliver quality dewatering operation and meet targets with zero injury as per Acacia Buzwagi Health and Safety standards.
This is a one (1) year fixed term contract role, with the work roster being seven (7) days day shift, seven (7) days night shift and seven (7) days off.
CORE ACCOUNTABILITIES
• Ensure safe work practices by attending compulsory safety courses and meetings, use of required PPE, incident/accident reporting and ensuring total adherence to all Safety, Occupational Health and Environmental Policies, as well as other policies, procedures and guidelines.
• Attendance at Pre-Shift Information meetings.
• Conduct water pump pre-start inspection to ensure that water pumps are safe to use, and to immediately report any defects.
• Maintain safety precaution status of the water pumps and other equipment.
• Report any hazards, minor defects and incidents in a timely manner.
• Perform water pump operation according to the production plan while ensuring safety of operators, equipment and other personnel working around you.
• Ensure zero equipment / pump damage.
• Ensure proper shift hand over of the water pump and other equipment.
• To perform all duties effectively and efficiently by following standard operating procedures.
ROLE REQUIREMENTS
Qualification Requirements:
• Certificate of Secondary Education
• Certificate of Competence on Poly Pipe Welding
• Certificate of Competence on Dewatering activities
• Valid Tanzanian driving license
Experience Requirements:
• Must have experience working with water pumps in pit dewatering.
• Mining experience will be an added advantage.
Skills / Knowledge Requirements:
• Ability to perform poly pipe welding.
• Ability to replace gland parking seal.
• Ability to do pre-start on water pump units.
• Ability to do setting and operate the water pumps on the sumps area.
• Ability to refuel all small machines within the Mine Site.
• Ability to switch on/off lightning plants and generators around bore holes.
• Ability to remove and send back water pumps in the pit sumps during blasting time.
