INTERPOL’s Internship Programme welcomes candidates from any of our 190 member countries. 
The Programme attracts talented students or recent graduates to the Organization and provides them with:

  • A better understanding of the Organization’s goals and objectives and how international police cooperation is organized
  • An insight into how an international organization operates
  • A framework to enhance their educational experience through practical work assignments, thereby developing skills which are useful for their career and future employment
  • Experience of working in a multicultural, multidisciplinary and multi-ethnic environment, contributing to the development of mutual understanding, trust and tolerance

PRIMARY DUTIES

In order to combat the organized transnational nature of the criminal groups involved in illegal logging, an international, coordinated response is essential. Otherwise, halting illegal logging in one country will merely result in an increase in another as the demand for illegally logged wood products remains unchanged. Project LEAF aims to establish the institutionalized cooperation between national agencies and international partners to enhance information and intelligence sharing. Throughout this internship, the selected applicant will be able to gain knowledge about illegal logging issues as well as develop research and analytical skills.
Supporting the LEAF Project the selected applicant will:
  • Assist with the collection and analysis of open source information
  • Assist with the preparation and drafting of Project LEAF reports and training manuals
  • Enter data in Project LEAF databases
  • Support advocacy and awareness raising on forestry crime
  • Assist with the development and maintenance of the Project LEAF webpage and contact list
  • Assist with the coordination project functions (conferences, trainings, workshops)
  • Support the logistics of trainings, meetings and other events
  • Undertake ad hoc research and administrative assignments as requested
  • Carry out any other duty assigned by the supervisor

REQUIREMENTS FOR THIS INTERNSHIP

All candidates will be assessed on the under mentioned requirements.
  • Be a national of one of INTERPOL’s 190 member country
  • Have attained the legal age of majority in their country of nationality

Training/Education

  • Have graduated from a post-secondary accredited academic institution within the past six month of the date of submission (at least at bachelor degree level) in a relevant field of study (e.g. international relations, development studies, law)

Languages

  • Fluency in English (C2 level or native)

Specific skills

  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office tools
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work well in a team as well as independently
  • Strong administrative and organizational skills
  • Research and analytical skills
  • Demonstrable interest in forestry crime
 In addition to the requirements, the following would be beneficial.
  • A good command of Spanish

If you are considered at a further stage of the selection process (interview) we advise you to familiarize yourself with the procedure for requesting such documentation in the concerned countries so that, if accepted, your arrival to the Organization is not unnecessarily delayed.
